One Million Moms for Gun Control is sponsoring two rallys to raise awareness of gun violence.

An Indiana-based group that‘s proposing stronger gun control in light of the Sandy Hook school shooting is planning a major march and rally. One Million Moms for Gun Control are organizing a rally and march set for New York City on Jan. 21 and Washington, DC on Jan. 26.

Founder Shannon Watts says their goal is to demand stronger gun laws at the federal and state level. She says they are not going to “allow inaction.”

Watts says nothing happened after shootings at Virginia Tech, Aurora, Colorado or Tucson, Arizona. She says they want a ban on assault weapons, background checks on all firearms purchases and a crack down on concealed weapons.
