Indiana Congressman Marlin Stutzman (R-3rd) has introduced a bill that would allow someone who has a concealed carry permit to legally carry that weapon into a state that outlaws the practice.
Stutzman says his bill would allow Hoosiers or residents of other states to be able to carry a concealed weapon across the country. Stutzman says his bill is not intended to undermine Illinois law, which is the only state that does not allow concealed carry.
“But at the same time I think it would start that discussion and dialogue of trying to let the states make those decisions according to their own will, but that they also have to respect Hoosiers who would be travelling through Illinois that they do have their right according to their state law and according to the 2nd Amendment,” he says.
He says the law would eliminate confusion and ensure Second Amendment rights.
