The 42nd Annual Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration begins Thursday. The 12-day event‘s theme is ‘We Are One.’ IBE President Tanya Bell say the theme reflects the nature of IBE.
“Not only do we encourage and invite people from all walks of life, different cultures, languages, race, religions, fashions, music and different perspectives to attend out festivities, but we also acknowledge that there is a unique strength of collaboration,” she says.
Bell highlighted some of the 65 events held across the city.
“The We Are One theme will be reflected in our AT&T Black Business Conference presented by Key Bank and United Water that kicks off Monday, July 16th,” she says. “The Mayor‘s Breakfast will highlight all of the great work that has been done with minority, women and veteran owned businesses. We will also have some great workshops.”
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has designated drop-off spots for parents bringing kids downtown, which are located at West and Maryland Streets and on Ohio Street between Illinois and Capitol. IMPD says they hope to not permanently close any streets, but will block them off when traffic needs to be cleared out.
