Indebted to Debs

Indiana figured prominently in the discussion of the 2008 Presidential Election, but it also had a hand in the election 100 years before, when Terre Haute native Eugene Debs ran on the Socialist Party ticket. Debs ran three times for President — never garnering even ten percent of the popular vote – but he still matters to Terre Haute, and has a profound effect on how politics is viewed today.

Daniel started as WFIU's Assistant News Director in July 2008. He graduated with a B.A. in history in 2007 and earned an M.A. in journalism two years later. Daniel hosts Ask the Mayor weekly and the occasional Noon Edition. He also hosts Morning Edition on Thursdays, sleepily.
