Indiana House Speaker Brian Bosma says Republicans have a plan to save bills which might otherwise have died due to the absence of House Democrats. Following a final roll call Wednesday, Bosma said the House Rules Committee could extend the deadline to pass bills originating in the House.
“We could extend that for a week and the Democrats would find themselves with the same calendar that they’re trying to kill today, they may find that calendar sitting on the table when they return, if they return next week.”
Bosma said a quorum is still needed for the floor action of the rules change and indicated the extension could happen either Thursday or next week – depending on when the Democrats return.
