Some unemployed Hoosiers are reporting problems getting access to the state website to receive their benefits. Department of Workforce Development spokeswoman Valerie Kroeger says some people experienced delays on the site due to the volume of users.
“Each week everyone who is on unemployment insurance has to file a weekly voucher saying that they’re still unemployed and looking for work,” said Kroeger. “Those that are on the federally funded extended benefits every time there is a quarter change they have to go on and file a new claim in order to keep claiming those benefits.”
Kroeger says about 90,000 are on the federally funded benefits and about 60,000 on the state unemployment benefits. Kroeger says many people were able to access the site on Sunday and Monday and they will be paid the following day after filing. She says the Department of Workforce Development is looking to see if the quarter deadline falls again on a Sunday and if so, they will find a solution to the problem. However, Kroeger says they haven’t found a solution yet.
