A planned $13.8 million healthcare facility is expected to bring up to 400 jobs to Kokomo. It is billed as the next generation health and rehabilitation community and will cater to assisted living residents with both short and long-term rehabilitation care.
The Cicero-based company, Mainstreet Property Group, says construction will begin next month and the facility is expected to open in the fall of 2013. Mainstreet’s CEO Zeke Turner says they wanted to locate in Kokomo because of the city‘s “positive business environment and skilled workforce.”
Kokomo mayor Greg Goodnight says any good jobs are welcome, but in a community that relies so heavily on the automotive industry, this, he said, will help diversify the economy.
