Several petition signatures for the 2008 primaries have been challenged.

A special prosecutor wants handwriting samples from four people charged in connection with alleged forged petition signatures in the 2008 presidential primary.

Former Saint Joseph County Democratic Chairman Butch Morgan and three former voter registration staffers are charged with arranging phony signatures to help Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton meet petition requirements to get on the ballot. Former Vanderburgh County Prosecutor Stan Levco says he expects to ask a judge at a May 21 hearing to order all four to turn over handwriting samples.

Levco was appointed to handle the case because Saint Joe Prosecutor Michael Dvorak’s signature is one of those allegedly forged. No trial date has been set, but a judge has set an August 27 deadline for any plea agreements.
