An Indianapolis dentist is buying back unopened candy and sending it to troops overseas.
Now that this year’s trick-or-treating is complete, an Indianapolis dental practice has a new alternative for the collected candy. New Era Dentistry is encouraging kids to sell their candy back at a dollar per pound, so it can be sent to American military troops serving overseas. Spokeswoman Nicole Chapel says it’s part of a national program which last year collected more than six tons of candy for the troops and helped give kids gum which, instead of decaying teeth, helps to clean them. The exchange takes place Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the office at 56th and Georgetown Rd, on the northwest side of Indianapolis.
