The Johnson County Courthouse is in Franklin, Ind., which was named the ninth most affordable city for buying a home.

Franklin, Ind., has been listed as one of the cities with the most affordable homes in the country by CNN Money.

Franklin came in at number nine on the list. The article also mentions the city being featured in Life Magazine in 1940 as a great community to live. Mayor Fred Paris said they were contacted by CNN Money but they did not know they were being featured on the list until it came out.

“They actually called us about three weeks ago asking a lot of questions about the story in Life Magazine and we couldn’t really figure out where that was coming from unless they were just trying to look for some other story,” Paris said. “When that came out, then obviously we made the connection.”

The article lists the median family income of $60,914 and the median home price of $99,000. Mayor Paris said they have a lot of things in the city that makes it a great place to live in including their proximity to Indianapolis and their parks department.

“Our trails and pool and everything just give people a great deal,” said Paris. “Franklin College is here and so schools, although they’re fairly expensive, they’re all up and doing great for the community.”

The article lists Hunter’s Creek, Florida as the city with the most affordable homes.
