The Fort Wayne City Council has decided to override Mayor Tom Henry‘s veto on collective bargaining.

The mayor last week vetoed a council ordinance that would eliminate the negotiation process for unionized workers.

Some estimates say about 500 non-public safety workers will be impacted. Democrats on the council maintained the city was in good financial shape and the move wasn‘t necessary.

Mayor Henry called the vote “a divisive effort to hurt award-winning city employees.”
