Monroe County Clerk Jim Fielder will take a new title January first: county recorder. By virtue of winning, Fielder becomes the only countywide elected official who’s a member of the Republican Party. It’s a position Fielder said sours his win.
“I’m personally shocked with the clerk’s race,” Fielder said. “ That was my number one concern. I’ve worked my butt off in this office for 8 years and certainly wanted someone following up that I could trust…I’m not feeling that.”
But Fielder said he’s already looking forward to his move to the recorder’s office, and he knows what he’s in for because he’s been there before.
“I was clerk for two terms and recorder for two terms and this is two more terms for clerk and I’ll go over and start a new term as recorder,” Fielder said.
Democrat Linda Robbins will fill Fielder’s place as clerk
