The FedEx Indianapolis hub at the airport is the second largest in the company.
FedEx is offering thousands of employees a voluntary buyout program. The program primarily is available to staff and administrative employees, who will be notified if they are eligible in February.
FedEx spokesman Glen Brandow says the buyout program includes four weeks of gross base salary for every year of continuous service, with a maximum of two years base pay. Employees need five years of continuous employment to be eligible.
Eligible employees will have until April 1 to consider the offer. The FedEx Indianapolis hub at the airport is the second largest in the company, and has more than 4,000 employees.
But Brandow says employees at the Indianapolis hub are not the focus of the program. He says it is too early to tell how many employees will take the buyout.
