Perhaps the story most closely watched by sports fans during the past year was the downfall of Indiana University men’s basketball, including a number of sanctions against the team, imposed both by the University itself and by the NCAA. The sanctions led to the firing of several coaches, the hiring of a new compliance director (to ensure coaches follow NCAA rules in the future) and, eventually, the resignation of Athletic Director Rick Greenspan. Since the WFIU news department is on the Indiana University campus, it was uniquely positioned to cover the changes.
