Equifax Security Breach Affects Nearly 3 Million Hoosiers

As many as 143 million Americans nationwide have been affected by the breach.

A data security breach of one of the largest credit reporting agencies in the United States, Equifax, has compromised the personal customer information of nearly 3.8 million Hoosiers.

Attorney General Curtis Hill advised Hoosiers Friday to take steps to protect their personal information after the cyber attack exposed information including birth dates, addresses and social security numbers.

Equifax officials say they discovered the hack on July 29 and publicly disclosed the breach more than a month later.

As many as 143 million Americans nationwide have been affected by the breach.
