Election Night 2008

WFIU’s news department has a full-time staff of just two people and a part-time staff of just four more. But on election night, the station managed not only to anchor more than four hours of coverage, but sent three reporters into the field to do live shots from the county courthouse and the Democratic and Republican headquarters, as well as regularly updating race results affecting 25 Indiana counties.

WFIU/WTIU News Senior Editor Stan Jastrzebski spent time as a reporter with WGN Radio in Chicago and as an editor at Network Indiana, an Indianapolis news service. Stan is the winner of awards from the Associated Press, the RTDNA, the Indiana Broadcasters Association and the Society of Professional Journalists. He hosts WFIU's Ask the Mayor and anchors WTIU's InFocus.
