Foundation for Monroe County Community Schools fund raising officials say they did not reach their goal of raising $750,000 in support of local extracurricular activities. The donation drive, which started in early July, collected a total of $675,000.
In an email, FMCCS Executive Director Tina Peterson says the group is happy with the result. She says the outcome is welcome during these rough economic times.
The funds will be distributed evenly between all ECA programs affected by a recent round of budget cuts. The funds will be used to pay a stipend to school employees involved in extracurricular activities.
