Indiana Deputy Attorney General Fired Over Twitter Post

Mother Jones magazine exposed several postings from Cox's personal twitter and blog accounts encouraging violence to Wisconsin protesters.

Authorities with the Attorney General’s office say deputy attorney general Jeffrey Cox has been fired due to inappropriate social media activity.

Mother Jones magazine exposed several postings from Cox’s personal twitter and blog accounts encouraging violence to Wisconsin protesters. In one of the tweets, Cox said “use live ammunition” in response to a headline stating Madison, Wisconsin police had been ordered to clear protesters from the capitol.

Officials at the Attorney General’s office said they conducted a thorough review after the Mother Jones online article was published, and while they respect an individual’s first amendment right to express their personal views, public servants are held by the public to a higher standard.
