Republicans and Democrats are going back and forth with claims that signatures on McCain and Obama petitions in 2008 were forged.
Indiana Republicans and Democrats are bickering over the John McCain-Barack Obama race in Indiana back in 2008. Democrats say they have found irregularities among McCain petitions in Boone County.
State party head Dan Parker says this is not a reaction to Republicans targeting forged signatures on 2008 Obama petitions in St. Joseph County.
“We‘re going to come out with analysis of the John McCain petitions because we feel actually going back and looking at them, he was short in a congressional district,” he says.
Republican Party head Eric Holcomb says Democrats are playing politics and are trying to deflect attention away from what he says happened in St. Joseph County.
“This is just the case of the Indiana democratic party drudging up old news,” he says.
In the meantime, both parties say they agree the ballot-petition system needs fixing.
