Democrats and Republicans revealed Monday their agendas for the upcoming session.
House Democrats unveiled their legislative agenda for the upcoming session on Monday
Among the highlights of the agenda, called the Helping Hoosiers Now program, are a job creation tax credit for small businesses, a preschool voucher program and government transparency in economic development deals and transportation contracts.
House Democratic Leader Pat Bauer says the entire agenda can be paid for while keeping the state surplus above one billion dollars. He says the Republican plan to push right-to-work legislation will drive down wages and only help those making the most.
“We feel that many of us are aware that this could be the decline and fall of Indiana as an economic, viable state,” Bauer says.
Republican leaders contend right-to-work legislation is the best way to improve Indiana’s economic development climate and boost job growth.
