Traffic Delays Expected for First 2010 IU Football Game

Fans and IU Athletics prepare for first 2010 football game and the delays that come with it.

IU fans have much to look forward to for the 2010 football season. A brand new scoreboard with high definition video and a new sound system should excite many fans, but this season it also includes traffic delays.

Assistant Athletic Director of Event Management, Kit Klingelhoffer, said most of the traffic plans from last year stayed in place and this year a wrench has been put in the plan. “This year the construction on the bypass, which is expected as a three year project could mean adjustments in some plans in the future for both football and basketball season.”

IU Police Chief Keith Cash said IU fans can expect a delay on the 45/46 bypass because of construction. And he says this year, post game traffic heading west on the bypass at Kinser won’t be able to turn left. The police department will meet with INDOT officials prior to each home football game to update any new traffic directions the construction dictates.

Klingelhoffer says there will be several signs to direct the crowd and they recommend people to leave early and be patient.
