The deadline to file for School Board races in the November election was noon Friday, with several new candidates entering this year’s race. Three seats are up for grabs on the Monroe Community School Corporation board, and incumbents Victoria Streiff, and Jeannine Butler have both filed for re-election, along with newcomers Martha Street and Kelly Smith. Val Merriam had originally filed, but withdrew from the race after deciding to concentrate her efforts this fall to helping pass the referendum for increased funding to schools.
For the two contested seats on the Richland-Bean Blossom board, Jon Fresch and Dana Kerr will face off in the Richland Township race, while Timothy Adams and Randall Wright will match up in Bean Blossom Township.
