Tuesday marks the deadline for Democrat or Republican candidates to fill vacancies in the 2007 municipal election. In Bloomington, Democratic candidates had five unopposed races, but Republican Clifford Meadows filled one of those slots. Meadows was picked by party leaders to run for one of the city council at-large seats. He says he has always wanted to get into politics. Meadows says one of his interests is transportation issues.
Meadows will face Democrats Tim Mayer, Andy Ruff and Susan Sandberg in November. The Monroe County Democratic Party selected Jillian Kinzie to run against City Council District 2 member Brad Wisler. As of Friday afternoon, candidates for Clerk and City Council Districts 1, 3 and 4 were all unopposed.
