Bloomington’s Piacé Boutique launched its website two months ago to reach out-of-town shoppers. Store manager Danielle Shields says she expects a Cyber Monday bump in sales, but not a large spike.
“I think online will be more today than it was Black Friday, but I don’t think it will be our peak necessarily,” she says.
The Game Preserve’s website sells board games, but company owner Bill Lorton says he’s not too concerned about online sales. He did not even know it was Cyber Monday.
“I think a lot of people are realizing that if they walk in the store we can show them all sorts of things they never would’ve found on Amazon or anywhere else,” he says.
Nationally, retailers are expected to rake in more than $1.5 billion Monday.
