The Indiana National Guard Agribusiness Development Team has been deployed in the mountains of eastern Afghanistan for about three months now, on a mission to teach improved agricultural techniques. But how does a group of 64 Hoosier men and women learn how to work in this remote central Asian country? As part of his continuing series on the farmer-soldiers, reporter Douglas Wissing discovers part of the answer lies at Indiana University’s Center for the Languages of the Central Asian Region, known as CeLCAR.
