IU fans cheer on the Hoosiers at the Kentucky game December 12th.

Indiana’s four big college basketball powers will meet in a non-conference doubleheader next year at Conseco Field House. I-U will face Notre Dame in the “Crossroads Classic,” followed by Butler and Purdue. The next year, I-U and Purdue will swap opponents.

The schools have been trying to arrange the event since 2008. It’s a throwback to the “Hoosier Classic” involving the same schools in the 1940s.

It’s being revived just as Indy’s previous attempt at a marquee basketball doubleheader appears to have run out of steam. The Wooden Tradition began in 2000, but was scaled back to a single Purdue-Ball State match up last year. There will be no Wooden Tradition this year, with the games moving to the West Coast after that.
