The B-Line Trail project in Bloomington is on track to be completed ahead of schedule. Crews today installed the pedestrian bridge above Grimes Lane.
Grimes Lane was closed for much of the day while crews worked to lift the 60-foot bridge into place. This is the second phase in the construction of the B Line Trail. The bridge marks the halfway point from where the trail will end at Country Club Road.
“There’s a lot of activity already on a heavily traveled road and we figured the safety of the trail users would be better served going up and over Grimes Lane to plan for the future park entrance off Grimes and still knowing that the transit system would create some traffic in the area,” said Bloomington Parks Department Operations Director Dave Williams.
When construction of the B-Line Trail is complete it’ll connect all three of Bloomington’s Trail Systems. The project is slated to be complete by July. Williams says however that crews are ahead of schedule so presumably the project will be finished early.
