The ballot for the November municipal race in Columbus has been finalized. Deadlines for independent write-in candidates were Monday, while write-in Democrats or Republicans had until Tuesday to file. Bartholomew County Clerk Norma Trimpe says five out of the eight races are unchallenged.
Mayor Fred Armstrong will face Mark White in the mayoral election. City Council has two contested races, with Priscilla Scalf facing Sue Chapple in District 1 and Mike Lovelace, George Dutro and Jesse Brand vying for the two at-large council seats. Trimpe says Columbus usually has more contested races. She says she has no idea why so many races are unchallenged this year.
