Columbus-based Cummins says its headquarters will again expand, creating 600 new jobs by 2014.
The latest expansion, an investment of $18 million, includes the construction of a 130,000 square-foot office building that will connect to the company’s corporate campus in downtown Columbus. Cummins is the largest independent maker of diesel engines in the world. Currently, the company employs about 6,000 people in Indiana.
This was the third jobs announcement in a year for Cummins. At the event was Rep. Mike Pence, just a day before a ceremony to officially kick off his run to replace Mitch Daniels as the state’s governor next year.
