Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano has been diagnosed with leukemia, the Colts announced at a news conference Monday. Colts Owner Jim Irsay says Pagano, 51, had been feeling fatigued in recent weeks and noticed bruising on his body.

Irsay says the organization is keeping a strong faith that the coach will recover, but he says it is still tough news to hear.

“It’s been a very difficult day,” Irsay says. “It’s a lot to taking in for our coaches, our players and our organization.”

Pagano is expected to miss at least six weeks of the season while he remains in isolation during treatment. This is his first year as head coach for the Colts.
