Weather Update: Storm Reports Coming In

Severe thunderstorms are expected to develop along a cold front today and through this evening.

5:55 P.M. UPDATE

Thunderstorm warnings and flash flood warnings in effect this evening. More storm reports are coming in… now from two miles southeast of Greenwood where thunderstorm wind gusts uprooted and snapped trees. In Lebanon, 18 inches of water is being reported on Smiley Street. One inch hail reports are coming from Hendricks County and Morgan County near Mooresville.

The thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 9 p.m.

3:45 P.M. UPDATE

A few thunderstorm warnings are in effect throughout Central Indiana… hail events predominant in local storm reports. 1.5 inch hail in Boone County, 1.0 inch hail Clinton County, 1.0 inch Parke County, .75 inch Tippecanoe County…

2:45 P.M. UPDATE

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 9 p.m. Primary threats include widespread large hail of up to 2.5 inches in diameter as well as damaging wind gusts to 70 MPH.

Current storm reports indicate one inch hail and wind gusts to 50 MPH in Parke County near Clinton at 2:08 this afternoon.

12:10 P.M. UPDATE

Forecasters at the National Weather Service say severe thunderstorms are possible across Indiana today and tonight as a cold front tracks across the area. The best chances for severe weather will likely be from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

The main threats will be large hail possibly up to 2 inches in diameter, damaging winds, heavy downpours and frequent lightning.

Highs today will top off in the mid 80s while highs tomorrow are expected to reach 78 degrees.
