A winter storm sweeping across Indiana has led IU to closings, delays, and a number of power outages.

Only essential travel is being recommended today in Monroe County.  City and county offices closed early yesterday and will remain closed today.  Between 8,000 and 9,000 people are without power in the Bloomington area.

IU Bloomington is expected to open today at 1 p.m. but local school districts, including Monroe County Community School Corporation are closed.
