A central Indiana park that lost most of its mature trees to an August tornado will be replanted with native trees as crews rebuild its damaged playgrounds.
An EF3 tornado with winds estimated as high as 152 mph damaged at least 1,000 homes and businesses in Kokomo on Aug. 24.
Many Kokomo residents are still not back in their houses a week after tornadoes downed hundreds of trees and damaged more than a thousand homes.
The American Red Cross set up a shelter at the Kokomo Event and Conference Center for those displaced.
