More than 3 million dollars is needed in loans for the new Carbon Motors plant in Connersville, which manufactures energy-efficient police cruisers.

Connersville mayor Leonard Urban said local and state officials are pressing the federal government to make a decision. “The last month, all of us have put the political pressure on. All of Indiana’s congressmen–both senators–have endorsed the project.”

Urban said the plant is slated to create 1,500 new jobs at the old Visteon plant in Fayette County, but it can’t do much without the loan, which is supposed to come from the US Department of Energy.
