Susan Brooks has defeated David McIntosh for the 5th District of the US House of Representatives. McIntosh, a former congressman, lost by around 1,000 votes.
Brooks, an administrator at Ivy Tech community college, was appointed US Attorney for the southern district of Indiana by President George W. Bush in 2001.
The Democratic opponent to Brooks will be Scott Reske, who defeated Tony Long by a healthy margin.
Retired Marine Corps Colonel Reske is currently a state representative from Pendleton.
