Spay Neuter Services of Indiana has created a license plate that will benefit low-income Hoosier pet owners. The plate features a small dog and cat sitting side-by-side with the words “LUV EM” and “Pet Friendly” printed.
BMV Deputy Commissioner for External Affairs, Dennis Rosebrough says several organizations apply to have a specialty plate made each year.
“There’s a fairly extensive process,” he explains, “that the organization must go through to apply and there are various requirements about numbers of signatures, an explanation of how the funds will be used, and that process occurs on an annual basis.”
Spay-Neuter Services’ Pet-Friendly license plate is one of 47 organizational plates available this year.
“On the BMV website there is a list of all of the organizations that sponsor plates and plates that are available,” Rosebrough says. “You can click on the plate and it will tell you the exact name of the sponsoring organization, how the funds are being used, and how you can order a plate for your vehicle.”
The plate costs $40 and a portion of that goes towards the organization’s plan to lower surgery costs for pets
