It’s been a big month for downtown Bloomington with the opening of the B-Line Trail. Now a new, big piece of artwork is being installed.
This is more than a year’s work for local artist Dale Enochs. It’s called the Bloomington Banquet.
“I hope they smile and laugh, I hope children are drawn to it,” says Enochs. “I hope it causes some questions and dialogue with people. I hope that people take it as intended, to be in good humor.”
The sculpture features a table and chairs made of Indiana limestone with place settings of steel and aluminum. In all it will be 23 feet at it’s highest point.
“A dining table is a place where people come together and sit down and not only eat, but socialize and get to know one another and normally do that in a peaceful way. Really I think that speaks a lot to what Bloomington is about, it’s a place where people come together from all over the world and relate to one another and work together in a peaceful manner.”
