Bloomington’s YMCA is expanding to meet increasing demand from the city. YMCA leaders will hold open houses over the next three weeks to discuss proposed plans for expanding the current facility on the city’s south side. But since the project would depends mainly on donations, the plans are still in flux.
Board of Directors President Mary Clare Bauman said the direction the project goes depends on the support of the community.
“We have something in mind that we think it would really fit the needs of the community and of our members. If the members look at those plans and if they feel like that’s what they can do, hopefully the support will be there.”
Current plans would expand the Y’s pool and locker rooms to make them better able to handle large, family-oriented activities.
