Bloomington’s Tibetan Cultural Center has announced that it is debt free. In December, the center’s board of directors vowed to be in the black before the visit of the Dalai Lama in October. The $1.7 million debt inherited from the center’s previous management was alleviated by a group of the Dalai Lama’s supporters. Tibetan Cultural Center Director Arjia Rinpoche says the Dalai Lama told him not to stress over the center’s money problems.
The Dalai Lama will be in Bloomington to conduct a public talk at IU’s Assembly Hall on October 27th on the topic of compassion. Tibetan Cultural Center officials also announced that the Dalai Lama has expanded his visit to Indiana to include a stop at Purdue the day before he is set to arrive in Bloomington.
