Police are looking for a 21-year-old Indianapolis man in connection with a shooting on Bloomington’s north side over the weekend. Captain Joe Qualters says Antoine Sims is a person of interest after a series of shots were fired outside the Econo Lodge on North Walnut. Qualters says following several 911 calls about at 3 a.m. Sunday, police arrived to find 150 to 200 people in the Econo Lodge parking lot attempting to flee the scene.
Qualters says a witness provided a description of the suspect and the car he used to leave the scene. A vehicle matching that description, as well as a handgun, were found at a convenience store on north State Road 37. He says officers arrested Ernest Holifield and Lamont Sanders, both of Indianapolis, on charges of assisting a criminal. According to investigating officers, the two said they dropped the suspect off at Walnut Knolls apartments. Qualters says police continue to search for Sims.
