Bloomington Police Apprehend, Lose Bank Robbery Suspect

The suspect escaped custody and jumped several fences while police tried to re-apprehend him.

Bloomington Police are urging anyone with information on the suspect to contact BPD immediately.

Bloomnington police are searching for a suspect who allegedly robbed the People’s State Bank on Clarizz Boulevard this afternoon.

The suspect, described as a black male wearing dark clothing, was temporarily apprehended by police in the Hoosier Hills neighborhood, but escaped custody and jumped several fences while police tried to re-apprehend him.

According to Police Capt. Joe Qualters, the area was blocked off and a K-9 units were called to the scene, but police have no additional leads on the suspects whereabouts at the moment.

Qualters says a 9MM handgun displayed during the robbery was recovered by police.

Several area schools were placed on lock-down, but have now dismissed all students without incident.
