Michael Angle turned himself in to the Monroe County Jail for robbing the Garden of Eden store and fatally stabbing the clerk.

A man who admits to murdering a Bloomington video store clerk Monday night has turned himself into police. Twenty-six-year-old Michael Angle reportedly admitted to investigators that he was in the process of robbing the Garden of Eden adult video store when he began to stab 47-year-old clerk Lauren Kahn of Lawrence County.

Captain Joe Qualters says Angle surrendered himself to the Monroe County Jail.

“He wanted to turn himself in for a crime that he said he committed,” Qualters says. “Michael S. Angle, 26, of Bloomington, admitted to detectives that he had gone to the store and was in the process of committing an attempted robbery when he began stabbing the clerk.”

Kahn was transported to IU Health-Bloomington where she died. A witness says Angle chased him away from the store. A folding knife was found in the street and investigators believe it is the same weapon used to kill Kahn.

Angle has been booked into the Monroe County Jail and charged with murder and attempted robbery.
