Bloomington, Indianapolis Chefs Named James Beard Finalists

Bloomington's Restaurant Tallent chef David Tallent is the only non-Indianapolis chef nominated in Indiana.

David Tallent opened his restaurant in Bloomington, Indiana in 2003.

Several Indiana chefs and brewers have been named as semifinalists for the “culinary Oscar” awards. The James Beard Foundation announced their semifinalists today.

Bloomington’s Restaurant Tallent chef David Tallent is the only non-Indianapolis chef nominated in Indiana.

The Indianapolis chefs include R Bistro‘s Regina Mehallick, who is on the list for best chef for the 5th time.

Greg Hardesty of Recess is a semifinalist for the 3rd time, and Libertine Liquor Bar and Pizzology chef Neal Brown is nominated for the second consecutive year in the best chef category.

Mike, Nick and Simon Floyd of 3 Floyds Brewing in Munster is again nominated for Outstanding Wine, Spirits or Beer Professional Group.

The foundation will announce the final nominees in Chicago on March 18.

The final awards will be presented on May 5th in New York City.
