The outgoing chair of the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce told hundreds of members on Wednesday that improving education in Monroe County is among the major accomplishments of the past year. Sarah Bard Rogers spoke at the Chamber’s annual meeting, held Wednesday afternoon at the Bloomington Convention Center.
Bloomington Hospital CEO Mark Moore, who takes over for Bard Rogers as chair of the Bloomington Chamber, said the group would continue its work to improve education in the community. Moore said political education will also figure prominently during the coming year of legislative action and the upcoming elections.
Chamber leaders also used the occasion of the annual meeting to bestow awards for outstanding contributions to the community. The former director of Leadership Bloomington, Ilknur Ralston, was given the lifetime achievement award posthumously.
