Construction on the 45/46 Bypass expansion in Bloomington is mostly finished.
All but a few turn lanes are now open to traffic as construction crews wrap up the year and a half-long project. The project experienced some setbacks because of problems with utilities and the railroad crossing near 10th street but it is being completed on schedule based on original estimates from the Indiana Department of Transportation.
Completion of the $22 million expansion is a welcome relief to many Bloomington residents who have complained about delays and lane closures. Besides constructing new lanes, the expansion also included the installation of a stoplight at the intersection of 17th Street and the 45/46 Bypass.
