After an earlier private auction for the property failed, the historic Parke County community known as Billie Creek Village will go up for public auction Saturday.
Indianapolis firm Key Auctioneers will begin the bidding at 10:00 a.m. for the 70-acre property. The value of Billie Creek estimates between $800,000 and $ 1.5 million.
A news release from the auction company states, there are three zones of sale for the auction, the first includes a 19 acre village with 20 buildings and a covered bridge. The second includes a 41 acre farm with a house, a barn, and a second covered bridge.
The third piece, currently used as a parking lot, encompasses the almost 4 acres of land located behind the Billie Creek Inn and restaurant.
Auctioneers say they will not further subdivide the property or sell off its antiques separately. Many of the buildings in the village were moved there from their original homes to create a Civil War-era feel for the property.
