Neighbors raised objections to the expansion at a public hearing Tuesday.

Big Woods Brewing Company is scrapping plans to expand at a site adjacent to the Brown County State Park.

At a planning and zoning meeting Tuesday night, the board voted – no decision – in response to the zoning change request.

A number of neighbors expressed concerns about the brewery expansion during the meeting.

In a statement Wednesday, one of the founders of the brewery, Jeff McCabe says the brewery was withdrawing its zoning change application because of the neighbor’s concerns.

However, McCabe said many of their assertions were neither factual nor accurate.

He said the other reason was because the planning and zoning board refused to take a position on the proposal. McCabe says Big Woods still plans to expand, but is looking at other locations including sites outside of Brown County.
