The State Board of accounts wants a Monroe County township trustee to repay $78,000 in what it says are improperly documented expenses. Republicans have been attacking Benton Township Trustee Heather Cohee for putting her husband and daughter on the payroll as clerks.
Cohee says they have done cleaning and other work for the township. A state audit finds the township actually underpaid Todd Cohee by $900 but says Heather Cohee and her daughter got about $4,000 more in salary than they were supposed to.
