The Bedford North Lawrence Stars completed their road to an undefeated season tonight by winning the 4A state championship against the Fort Wayne South Side Archers.

The game was a hard fought, back and forth, defensive battle with the Stars coming out on top 54-51.

The score remained tight throughout the game, Bedford was losing 12-10 at the end of the first quarter, then came back to lead 26-23 at the half. With only five minutes left, Bedford led 46-43, then pulled out the victory before a cheering crowd.

The Stars were lead by two sophomores, Alexa Bailey and Domonique McBryde. Both scored 19 points in the game and provided the spark that the Stars needed to win.

While Bedford’s season record remained perfect with a season record of 28-0, it was a hard fought road to the championship. BNL just barely made it to the state finals after defeating the Roncalli Rebels 66-52 in overtime last Saturday.

This is the first state championship for the Stars since 1991.

The Archers end the season 24-4.
