Several Republican candidates have been vying for the 6th District seat held by U.S. Congressman Mike Pence (above). Pence is giving up his seat to run for Indiana's governor.

What had been the largest congressional primary in Indiana keeps getting smaller. Bartholomew County Coroner Allen Smith is ending his campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives 6th District seat.

Eight candidates filed for the Republican primary to replace GOP incumbent Mike Pence. But Smith is the second to drop out this week, following Ivy Tech administrator John Hatter. Both will still appear on the ballot because the deadline to formally withdraw has passed.
